Locks - Power locks require multiple pusings (5-8) to open locks. Drivers button is barely on (parially loose). Locks are stiff, and keyturning is hard. Can do this while the window is apart for tigtening/new weather stripping. Also, because of winter it can get really hard to turn the key in the lock.
Rear defogger - On = no observable effect. Also need this to work for winter.
Guess not...Odometer - Electronic odometer has faulty display/buttons. Unreadable/ some lines not as bright. Buttons require hard pressing to get trip, etc.
Climate control - Air comes out front window vents, never passenger vents. Assume this is because I possibly yanked a vaccume line to heater box. Air conditioning probably needs converting from r-12 to r-134a. Any case, that needs to be high-po'd.
Power antenna - It isn't present. Wiring isnt plugged in, and is dangling loose. Part of standard antenna is bolted on, wire is in fender. Will get oem power unit. Currently have Standard antenna plugged into aftermarket radio, standard antenna is just sitting in cabin on passenger seat.
New power antenna is 120-150 from gm dealership. GMParts Direct'll get it to ya for 60 + shipping.Sound system - Stock is bad. Have sony radio. Have good blaupunkt speakers on dash. Assume stock in rear. Getting changer, poss amps and subs.
Dont let anyone tell you otherwise. Sony sucks ass. The display on my flip face cassette player is on the fritz. I need to push it several times before it'll display the correct radio station (gets stuck on the old station when I move to a new one). Also, their cd players are notoriously skippy. I need to find something with red illumination, and double din. Extender and flush mount looks stupid. Sanyo has a unit with the right size (1.5) and display, but buttons are blue. Coversion?... Blaupunkt may have a red illumination model, looking into it...Status - Vehicle status readout will only occasionally report fog/taillight problems. Sees left door everytime, though.
Headlights - Drivers side only raises occasionally, when does is delayed/ goes up down up till settling on one. Rebuild, new relay?
Got a rebuild kit from www.rodneydickman.com (fiero rebuild kit). Haven't installed it yet so no comments. Difficult getting that sucker out... There is a good site which has some VERY useful photos, which I will list when I remember it...Fog lights - Not present. Wiring cut and hanging.
Its not exactly cheep, but all of the original GM parts are still available. Junkyard+Existing gear+small investment = fog lights!Plate light - Rear lisence plate light and housing is gone. Just two wires and what I assume is a socket.
It was a socket. On trip to the junkyard for a new lens, body, screw set, and bulb, and I was back in business.Hatch trunk light - switch is faulty. Shaky on/off operation.
Hatch release - Weak shocks NEW, weak/problematic rising motor, dash button = no effect. I need to get the shocks working so I can check that part of the defogger wiring. I tried some checker shocks, and those sucked. I put some some NAPA shocks, and those only rise when they are warmer. Even then, they still don't totally lift up the hatch by themselves. Is this the way it's supposed to be or not?
Gm shocks took care of this. Still is slow, reccomend fiberglass spoiler.Power Sideviews - the 4 way hat to adjust the side mirrors is sitting inside the console, the cover of which apparently came off of a none power side mirror car, and the owner didnt cut out the hole for it. Wiring and eveyrthing else is sitting inside. Just a small cut and thisones done.
Yeah, right. I used whichever two brain cells that were awake at the time of this and decided to use a soldering iron to melt out the correct hole. Worked fine, but took forever, and I had one hell of a headache.
