June 14, 2001 - Waiting to update this silly thing just causes the time to get away from you... I've been thinking about this web page, and I have big plans. My lowly 350 tpi is now a mighty 350 with a holley 750. The swap info currently out is weak at best (mostly due to no organization), and I have encountered a few difficulties that dragged this weekend plus swap into the two week range. However, it is together and running great, and I have a couple rolls of film to prove it! I'll be doodling up a complete walkthrough on that and several other projects once I get access to a scanner. As is, I have updated a lot of the things below. Also, I have added a new page to this site. I call it the sweet ass tools page. This will have various tools listed that are both very useful and very amusing to myself. Have a look see. There is also a car guys movie page. Also, note that the hackers project wheel is still turning. The hampster is asleep at the wheel, but he'll wake up sooner or later. I bought the hackers dvd, which is in widescreen. It is available from Best Buy for 9.99, which is great. Even has a red late 80's Trans Am right in the opening scene! (x5: See the old hackers page to get an idea why I find this newsworthy...)
December 31, 2000 - Merry Christmas and happy new year to ya'll. I am just putting this page up today. I put it off, but I didn't expect for this long...
November 19, 2000 - INTRODUCTION - I have finally gotten around
to doing up this web page. Some of this bland styling is intentional,
as I always have liked the old school web pages, back when no one could
download any images, much less run shockwave or streaming audio.
As of now, it will be about the repair of my GTA. It's a standard
GTA with the 350 TPI engine and the 700-r4 auto tranny. My car has
some options on it which make it a pretty unique car. It is gunmetal
gray, which was the least used body color. Also, it has the digital
dash, which was an extra option. It has the leather interior, which
was usually only gotten in the leather+t-tops combo, also making it a less
frequent option. I am actually glad about the lack of t-tops.
With the reported leaking/adjustment problems, and my plans to put lots
of power to the ground, its probably a good thing that it isn't equipped
with them. Of course it'd be a nice feature, but the cons outweigh
the pros. I picked this sucker up at quite a good price because the
guy needed it gone to finance a garage he was building (or so he says...).
However, this was a car sold 'as is,' which means it has problems.
I plan to document the repair process, so that anyone with an f-body can
follow the procedures, and those with GTA's can get more detailed model
specific info. With all of the electronics and power features, these
cars have much more complicated wiring, which means problems are harder
to diagnose/fix. My car has plenty of electrical gremlins, my most
feared car problem. I am forced to order a hayes manual due to these
problems. Later, or in between, I will be hopping up the car.
I will keep those mods general for now, but I will detail each as they
are planned/come to pass.
